There are “organizational changes” going on upstairs within IT - a lot of management types have been sacked, and the grunts could be next. I’m still safe down here in my department, but I’m worried my opportunity will evaporate before my eyes… Well, as long as certain key individuals are spared the axe, my name will still be known upstairs.
But I wish I had my degree under my belt, so I didn’t need to tie my fate to this one company…

ach. that sucks dude. we went through the same sorta shit a few months back here at west. it totally blew. the place felt like a fucking morgue for months.
well, when you finally hit a year down there, won’t you qualify for state residency so you can get cheap classes? night school may take a while, but if it’s the only option, it’s a way to go, y’know?

Most of the classes I need now aren’t available at night, though. :P
Well, worst case scenario, I go find a job for less pay but more flexible hours, and attend school during the day.

ah. yeah. metro at least seems to rotate their scheduling about every 3 semesters or so. which could be nice, but you could end up getting hosed and needing to wait a year for a class here or there.
that’s what i plan on doing. i get my car paid off in december ‘05. i figure i’ll keep working here for a year or so, saving my car payment and insurance every month. that’ll give me $5k i should be able to quit my job here and get like, a job at the mall or something to let me go back to school for a couple of years. especially if i stay in the current apartment. $375 a month in rent is child’s play. anybody can afford that sorta thing, y’know? and the kicker about all of it? it’s almost to the point where degrees don’t even matter anyway. stupid society and economy.
