Seems about in line with my one experience with Indian developers. Ours *definitely* couldn’t code, though, and that combined with a similar lack of understanding of the business led to a complete refund of everything we paid them for the project. I’m sure a couple heads rolled, too, though hopefully only the guys that told us they could code in Perl. (I’m beginning to think no one in India has ever heard of it, or indeed anything besides Java.)

My “official” title is Functional Area MIS (Managed Information Systems) Analyst I. For better or for worse, I moved into the position a bit over two years ago.

Basically means I do the lion’s share of the testing on changes they have to make to the system and have to straighten them out when they get business requirements all wrong, because while our little off shore team of indian programmers may know how to code (though I frankly doubt their proficiency at this as well), they don’t know and cannot seem to learn/infer jack about the business.

I hate that crap. That’s probably a good 2-3 hours of my week, research as to why things are doing what they’re doing, when they’re doing exactly what I was told to make them do in the first place.
