So sick...

I’m debating whether to tough it out a few more hours or go home sick (in which event I have to take a full day’s sick time). I feel like month-old warmed-over hell served cold from the fridge.

Yesterday’s storm didn’t bring any snow here to Mesa, just lots and lots of rain. But we did see snow on the Superstitions when we headed out this afternoon, and when we pointed it out to Lenny he had to touch some. The stuff on top of the Sups was well out of hiking range. So we drove toward Globe (an hour away), where we’d heard there was still snow on the ground.

It was getting dark, and we weren’t wearing coats, so we didn’t go all the way. But there were trucks passing us in the opposite direction with snow piled into their beds, probably to take home to show families. I spotted three sizable snowballs off to the side of the road, which had presumably fallen off a vehicle, so I told Diana to pull over.

Lenny got to crunch his boots in some, and Diana and I started the world’s shortest-lived snowball fight. We headed home with one last snowball in the car (which melted before we got there).

My boss just called me into his office and handed me an award check and a letter personally signed by the CEO. It was for my speedy turnaround on my last project, which made a customer rather happy.

I didn’t tell him that I changed, like, 3 lines of code on that project. I guess figuring out which lines to change was moderately difficult, but when my boss is putting in a ton of weekend hours and my fellow employees are staying overnight for software releases, it’s kind of hard to feel proud about about that sort of thing. Oh, well, evidently these awards are a pretty common thing, so I guess it’s not that big a deal.

I just want to get my toolset gathered so I can really start cranking out software and pull my weight around here.

Access to axes!

Anyone able to leave their Animal Crossing town gate open tonight, so we can come get one or more axes? We’re trying to build a stockpile until such time as we can acquire a Golden Axe. We’ll also leave ours open so you can come visit (and hopefully drop one off).

The FAQ I’m reading misled me a bit… I just buried $20,000, thinking it would either grow into a money tree, or remain a bag I could dig back up. I was elated to see it turn into a sprout immediately. But today it seems to be wilting! :_( I think I might be out $20,000.

Here's a statement that will blow the minds of those who know me...

I don’t like Samurai Shodown V.

They added a bajillion new characters and brought back all the old good ones, but it isn’t enough. I need parries, dodges, combos, counters (or at least much deeper implementations of them than they have here). The series is really starting to show its age. And, let’s face it, my tastes have changed.

Nonetheless, I do own it now, so those who have their own copies and would like to get a little Live action going, get in touch with me. Maybe a few bouts with a practiced human opponent will change my mind.
