I sometimes make little mistakes when giving commands to open files in Perl, and the result is usually empty files with snippets of Perl code as their names lying around my hard drive. I just deleted a file named “update_properties(@objects)” from my work folder…

Wonder how long before I overwrite an essential OS file? :P

202 -> 87 -> McDowell -> 101 -> office = 35 minutes...

…my best time yet. Not bad for rush hour.

Remember the original Ridge Racer for the Playstation? My commute kind of reminds me of that. Not because of the high speeds or the thumping techno soundtrack, but because of the beautiful, curving mountain roads and the tendency for airplanes to occasionally shoot overhead (I pass near two airfields).

It’s a good thing the drive is so cool, because I’ll be spending nearly an hour and a half on the road each day. :/

On the way home...

There was a dark blue felt-covered easy chair, sitting upside down in the middle of the 101.

Fortunately, traffic was moving pretty slowly due to rush hour, so motorists were steering around it without much trouble. It would have caused a serious accident at any other time of day.

I considered pulling over and dragging it off the road, but given some of the stories I’d heard, I realized that was a good way to get killed.
