Well, my home page looks like shit, but all of my files are just a few mouse clicks away from anywhere in the world.

Now I just need a content manager to make things look pretty and help people find the files they’re looking for. Zope sounds promising, but it doesn’t want to work under Windows, and simple installation walkthroughs are proving hard to find.

My brother was browsing my files, and overwhelmed at the size of my music collection, he e-mailed me to ask if I had yanked a PC from a radio station.

I told him that if I had yanked a computer from a radio station, there would be 8 MP3s on it, set up on a loop to repeat every hour, and they would all be by Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. :)

Apache httpd...

I’ve wanted to be able to access my files from anywhere for some time now, but any solution I could come up with was just too cumbersome. Well, I finally got over my fears and installed Apache Webserver on my PC.

The security options are pretty decent - I can let people in my “friends” group see my porn directory, but my “family” group doesn’t even have to know it exists. (Well, I suppose they will after reading this, but they still don’t get to see it.) :P And no one can see my Windows directory (not even me, until I’m confident enough to enable remote access for myself).

Now the next problem is dealing with this stupid dynamic DNS stuff and the fact that Cox blocks port 80. I’m hoping myserver.org will help me with that.

Two nights in a row that I’ve seen something weird on the way home… This time it was an owl, just perched on a light above the street. It didn’t seem to care one bit about the cars zooming by below.
